Korean War 17th Infantry name tapes (circa 1951-1954)

This blog was put together to highlight the Buffalo Name Tapes that were worn by 17th Infantry Regiment personnel from approximately late 1951 to the end of the Korean War 1953-54.  I have several of these in my private collection and anything that is not mine, I will note.

7th Infantry Division Commanding Officer, Major General Wayne C. Smith presenting the Silver Star to Captain William H. Petersen for actions during the battle of Triangle Hill (October 1952).

A Great photo showing CPT Petersen's painted M-1 Helmet, but his Buffalo Name Tape can be seen under the lapel of his field jacket.  CPT Petersen was with the 2nd Battalion, 17th Infantry (S-4, BN Supply Officer, etc.)

Unfortunately, I have not been able to track down William Petersen, and or his family.  Hopefully some day in the near future.
